Blue Pearl granite is quarried near Klaastad, Larvik, Vestfold, Norway, a coarse-grained, blue, iridescent magmatic syenite (larvikite) of the Permian period available in several shades and suitable for granite worktops and tiles, wall cladding and prestigious architectural elements. Blue Pearl is a Commercial name and covers a wide range of granites with varying colours and qualities. A small sample of a selected Blue Pearl granite is usually representative not having a wide variation in colour and veining plus there is a difference between Blue Pearl granite First & Commercial grades. Swatch samples must be approved for large projects to ensure that the blocks are all extracted from the same quarry face for matching purposes. During the polishing process a clear epoxy resin filler may be used to fill any micro fissures or tiny pitting however this does not affect the integrity of the stone, it merely provides an even smoother surface finish. Blue Pearl Granite is suitable for both interior and exterior use futhermore is frost resistant and with a constant polish.
Suitable for construction projects both commercial and domestic, prefabricated countertops/worktops, vanities, tiles, backsplashes, paving, fireplaces and memorials.
Blue Pearl granite looks best with a gloss polished surface but is also available as honed, leather/satin, river-washed/antique, thermal/flamed, flamed & brushed, water-jet, bush-hammered, sandblast and sawn finish.
Test with a small sample. It is most unlikely that a sealant can be used on this granite due to the grain structure and formation, attempts at sealing it could actually create a residue film build-up.

A coarse-grained intrusive igneous rock of the same general composition as granite but with the quartz either absent or present in relatively small amounts (-5%). The feldspar component of syenite is predominantly alkaline in character (usually orthoclase). Plagioclase feldspars may be present in small quantities, less than 10%.
This is the original Blue Pearl granite quarry yielding selectable, grades of granite with blocks suitable for gangsaw size down to economical tile-sized and monument blocks. Extraction is believed to have commenced in the early 1900s. For commercial projects it is important to ensure that blocks are selected from the same quarry face, do not try and match-up with alternative granite sources.
Rough blocks are usually exported by Break Bulk however intermodal containerisation is available at extra cost. Finished products are packed into sea-worthy wooden crates and loaded into containers.
