Blue Antique Granite® from near near Egersund, Rogaland, Norway, is a coarse-grained, brown anorthosite with blue & turquoise crystals of the Precambrian period, suitable for granite worktops and tiles, wall cladding and prestigious architectural elements. A small sample is usually representative of the whole slab not having a wide variation in colour and veining however Blue Antique® granite can be cut in any direction, as crystals and colouring are strong and evenly spread, meaning that first choice materials can be sourced from second and third choice blocks. During the polishing process a clear epoxy resin filler may be used to fill any micro fissures or tiny pitting however this does not affect the integrity of the stone, it merely provides an even smoother surface finish. Blue Antique Granite is suitable for both interior and exterior use futhermore is frost resistant and with a constant polish.
Suitable for construction projects both commercial and domestic, prefabricated countertops/worktops, vanities, tiles, backsplashes, paving, fireplaces and memorials.
Blue Antique granite looks best with a gloss polished surface but is also available as honed, leather/satin, river-washed/antique, thermal/flamed, flamed & brushed, water-jet, bush-hammered, sandblast and sawn finish.
Test with a small sample. It is most unlikely that a sealant can be used on this granite due to the grain structure and formation, attempts at sealing it could actually create a residue film build-up.

A Precambrian, phaneritic, intrusive igneous rock characterized by a predominance of calcium-rich plagioclase feldspar (90-100%), and a minimal mafic component (0-10%). Pyroxene, ilmenite, magnetite, and olivine are the mafic minerals most commonly present. All anorthosites found on Earth consist of coarse crystals but some samples of the rock taken from the Moon are finely crystalline.
This is an exclusive quarry, Blue Antique Granite® can be cut in any direction, as crystals and colouring are strong and evenly spread, meaning that first choice materials can be sourced from second and third choice blocks. For commercial projects it is important to ensure that blocks are selected from the same quarry face.
Rough blocks are usually exported by Break Bulk however intermodal containerisation is available at extra cost. Finished products are packed into sea-worthy wooden crates and loaded into containers.
