Granite Exporter Of Essentials + Exotics
Altamira Granite is a fine to medium-grained, grey / blue charnockite gneiss of the Precambrian period with clear to light grey / brown small crystals with dark grey and black veining and some tiny red background garnets. This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite but in the area of application of the European Standard this stone must be nominated as a gneiss. The veining and colour varies considerably and a small sample of Altamira granite may not be representative of the whole slab therefore swatch samples must be approved for large projects to ensure that the blocks are all extracted from the same quarry face for matching purposes. During the polishing process a clear epoxy resin filler may be used to fill any micro fissures or tiny pitting however this does not affect the integrity of the stone, it merely provides an even smoother surface finish. Altamira Granite is suitable for both interior and exterior use futhermore is frost resistant and with a constant polish.
Suitable for construction projects both commercial and domestic, prefabricated countertops/worktops, vanities, tiles, backsplashes, paving, fireplaces and memorials.
Altamira Granite looks best with a gloss polished surface but is also available as honed, leather/satin, river-washed/antique, thermal/flamed, flamed & brushed, water-jet, bush-hammered, sandblast and sawn finish.
Test with a small sample. It is possible that a sealant can be used on Altamira Granite however excessive attempts at sealing it could actually create a residue film build-up.
Altamira granite is quarried from our own sheet bedrock quarry near Andhra Pradesh, India. There are more than 40 similar quarries in this region with varying shades from light to dark.
Altamira granite slabs are available in standard 20mm and 30mm thickness for random slabs, cut-to-size (dimensioned) and prefabricated to the customer's specifications, 40mm thick are produced but are not usually held in stock for immediate despatch.
Standard Slab Sizes

Altamira granite Premium & Commercial quality calibrated, bevelled & grooved matching granite tiles.
Standard Tile Sizes
305 x 305 x 10 mm (12" x 12" x 3/8")
610 x 305 x 10 mm (24" x 12" x 3/8")
400 x 400 x 10 mm (15 3/4" x 15 3/4" x 3/8")
457 x 457 x 10/12 mm (18" x 18" x 3/8~1/2")

Any member of a series of metamorphic rocks with variable chemical composition, first described from the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India and named for Job Charnock. Charnockite occurs all over the world, most often in deeply eroded Precambrian basement rock complexes. . The alkali feldspar may be intermediate between microcline and orthoclase, a fine microperthitic texture being common; the plagioclase feldspar is usually antiperthitic. Dark colour and clouding of the feldspars are typical features of these rocks, as is a bluish tint in quartz. Some charnockites contain a brownish-green hornblende, often rather rich in titanium. The garnet characteristic of these rocks is rich in pyrope.
A high grade metamorphic rock. Gneiss is medium to coarse-grained and may contain abundant quartz and feldspar, which some petrographers regard as essential components. The banding is usually due to the presence of differing proportions of minerals in the various bands; dark and light bands may alternate because of the separation of mafic (dark) and felsic (light) minerals. Banding can also be caused by differing grain sizes of the same minerals. The mineralogy of a particular gneiss is a result of the complex interaction of original rock composition, pressure and temperature of metamorphism, and the addition or loss of components.
This is a medium-sized granite quarry yielding several, selectable, grades of granite with blocks suitable for gangsaw size down to economical tile-sized and monument blocks. Extraction commenced in the late 2000s. For commercial projects it is important to ensure that blocks are selected from the same quarry face.
Rough blocks are usually exported by Break Bulk however intermodal containerisation is available at extra cost. Finished products are packed into sea-worthy wooden crates and loaded into containers.
