A fine to medium-grained, black gabbro of the Precambrian period with golden-yellow sparkling broncite scales. This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite. For the US- and Chinese market this is correct but in the area of application of the European Standard (EN) this stone must be nominated as gabbro.
One of the most popular black granites available only from Chimakurti, Andhra Pradesh, India area, where upwards of 50 quarries supply the rough blocks. Some quarries are up to 100 metres deep whereas others are huge hillsides therefore the quality and colour varies greatly between suppliers. Owing to natural white and black lines running through the blocks only a very small percentage of the quarry production is suitable for large gang-saw sized slabs. The majority of the granite is used for tiles and dimensioned project work to remove these lines.
Star Galaxy should never be bought on price alone without an inspection to satisfy the buyer's requirements however it must be pointed out that these natural lines do not affect the integrity of the stone.
